I've been delving into encaustic painting recently. Here is a piece that came from the experimentation, and a detail from the painting. The final image is entitled 'Path', and it is 12" x 12".

Wow, it looks amazing.
I researched a bit and watched few YouTubes on encaustic painting after I read your blog - it's interesting and complicated. It's hard to believe people used to paint this way thousands of years ago.

It's hard to tell on the screen, but it must have nice textures? And I like the effect (gray) on black. I'd like to try it someday, if it's not too costly.

Nice outcome Sterling, it reminds me of Japanese block prints. Did you accomplish this mostly in oils.

Hey Sterling! Glad to see you experimenting, I imagine that working on an image like that would be very therapeutic. But what Im REALLY excited about is for some of that story stuff you were telling me about to see the light of day! Looking forward to when you next post!

What a cool technique. It seems like it has a lot of possibilities. Especially when mixing in pigments and being able to "sculpt" while the wax is still hot.
I would love to see this piece in person. Do I see some Klimt landscape influence?

Hope all is well Sterling!
