NEWS
I have recently returned from the Editorial and Book awards ceremony at the Society of Illustrators, where my "Shipwreck" illustration was presented a Gold medal! My wife was in attendance with me, along with art director Tyler Darden, and his lovely wife. My wife and I will be attending the Advertising show later this month (March) to pick up a second Gold medal!
The Communication Arts magazine feature article on my work, written by Matthew Porter is now on the news stands! Thank you to CA, Matthew Porter, and all of the people who took the time to be interviewed in the article.
I will be giving a lecture at CCA in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 12th at 7 pm. The lecture is slated for the Boardroom on the S.F. campus. I will either be giving a demonstration, or sitting in as a guest critic, before the lecture. My wife and I are looking forward to catching up with old friends and visiting some of California's beautiful landmarks.
The beautifully designed RVA magazine in Virginia featured eight pages of my work and a very nice Q and A write up.
New work for Rolling Stone is now on the news stand. It is an illustration for the album review of the Black Crowes new release.
The Richmond Times Dispatch wrote a very nice piece on art director Tyler Darden, and myself.
The latest issue of Virginia Living Magazine featuring my illustration of the "Gibson Girl" is now on the new stand.

Just read your article in CA, congratulations! I'm forever seeking new work (new to me) and I'm thrilled to have come across yours.
Wonderful work and interesting read, you're very inspiring.
Warmest wishes for everything in your future.
way to go bro. Ice storms suck! I couldn't make it to NYC until sat. afternoon! I did see Gary on the street though and he said the show was "a zoo" and crazy crowded....wish I could have been there. Maybe I'll just have to crash the academy for a weekend again.
Hey Sterling,
Looking forward to your CCA lecture, I'll be seeing you there...
Damn Sterling, you're just knockin them out left and right. Congratulations buddy!

Hey Sterling, conrats on all the payoff to your hard work. Maybe I can meet up with you when you're here. I know you'll be busy but if there's a chance I'm all over it. Take care.
The article in CA was inspiring to read. Looks like you're becoming a 'rock star' like James Jean, lol. (ps. please don't hurt me in class for saying that)
Sterling, the CA article was really inspiring. You are very blessed to have such a supportive family and a wife that supports you every step of the way. It is very nice to see how you balance you professional career and you family life, managing to unify them, rather then completely separate them. :-) Your accomplishments are such a great reflection of all your hard and passionate work and I hope more people realize that working hard truly pays off in the long run.
I hope you have a blessed spring break and see you at VCU next week.

One more thing...a bunch of us (jeff Love is the founder) have started this blog event called "The National Sketchbook Month"....maybe you can make an announcement regarding it once we are back in school. The info can be found here: http://sketchbookmonth.blogspot.com/
the details are all towards the bottom. and if you don't get too crazy busy, you can share some sketches too to support the cause ;-)
