i've recently completed six images for use as posters and season brochure pages for the lyric opera in kansas city. several of them are below.

the illustration academy, san francisco, begins in two weeks. i'm training for the long evenings with some high altitude cardio.

former student of the illustration academy, edward kinsella has just had his work published in rolling stone. look for it on the newstands in the album review section!

i will be speaking at the kansas city art institute in april.

i am working on two theatre posters for the arena stage in washington d.c.

last week i was awarded a gold medal from the society of illustrators new york in the editorial category! the award was given for the edgar cayce (sleeping prophet) illustration that was completed for virginia living magazine (see earlier post for image). what a true honor! 10 pieces were accepted in all, but i was limited to showing six (dispersed between the different categories). the hardware is shown below. the weekend was amazing. i was able to meet up with many friends, including students from the illustration academy, fellow instructors and colleagues. my wife, parents, and the art director for the image, tyler darden, were all in attendance.
